Centerville man arrested after report of possible armed robbery…
HYANNIS – Barnstable Police and Cape Cod Mall Security Officers responded to the Verizon Wireless kiosk near the inside mall entrance to Sears for a report of some sort of armed robbery/shoplifting.
Officers were on high alert because of reports that the fleeing assailant allegedly alluded to having a gun.
Mall Security Officers and police caught up to and detained the suspect in the parking area to the rear of Sears.
NOTE: The suspect did not have gun when arrested… and police do not believe he actually had one, but instead he alluded to actually having one…
The suspect was then arrested and transported back to Barnstable Police Headquarters for booking, while a Barnstable County Crime Scene Investigator was called to photograph and process evidence inside the mall.
