Seasoned long-serving patrolman locates missing woman… [HN VIDEO]

CENTERVILLE – [HN NOTES] – The temperature was dropping down into the mid 30s and this concerned everyone because the 62-year-old female had been missing for over an hour and she wasn’t dressed for the cold, wearing only a zip-up jacket, leggings, and flip flops.
According to police radio transmissions the woman, who’s first name is Laura, suffers from a traumatic brain injury and as evening became darker, with temperatures dropping, it was imperative that officers locate her as quickly as possible and bring her safely back in from the cold.
It was shortly after 9:00 p.m. last evening when the first Barnstable Police Officer arrived at the address in Centerville, after someone called reporting that Laura had been sitting on the back deck before she suddenly left somewhere on foot. According to dispatch, the caller reported Laura had been missing for at least 30 minutes at that point. And by the time the first patrolman double checked the entire residence, he radioed that it was more like over an hour since Laura disappeared.
HN began heading toward the area and noticed that the temperature outside had been dropping… in fact, in just the last couple of hours, the temperature went from being above 50 degrees down to 36 degrees. And I also noted that an hour provided a huge head-start for Laura – or anyone traveling on foot – to wander in who knows which direction… and in the dark, no less!
Barnstable Police immediately decided to call in one of their K9 units to begin tracking Laura while additional officers responded and fanned out across the area, lighting up side streets and yards in the vicinity.
But, as you will hear in the following HN Video, it didn’t take very long for veteran Barnstable Police Patrolman Kurt Lariviere to break the airwaves, announcing, “I have her down by the Old Twin Villa. I’m bringing her back… other than cold, she seems okay.”
With Laura safely in his cruiser, Patrolman Lariviere drove the 1.4 miles back to Laura’s home, where he walked her down the driveway and into her nice warm house. A C.O.M.M. Rescue was called in as a precaution, but other than an evaluation, Laura did not need further medical care. She was now home, safe and sound, thanks to a seasoned Barnstable Police Officer.
