Alert Business Owner Helps Police Arrest Drunken Driver for Third Offense OUI and OUI Drugs
On Tuesday, January 31, 2017 at 3:29PM, the Yarmouth Police Department received a call from a concerned Route 28 business owner that a man had entered the establishment in a drunken condition, threw money on the counter, and was belligerent. The man left the store and drove off eastbound on Route 28 in a pickup truck. The alert business owner notified YPD and gave a description of the suspect and the vehicle.
Yarmouth Police Patrol Officers spotted the vehicle and conducted a motor vehicle stop on Route 28 in South Yarmouth. The driver was identified and determined to be extremely impaired and placed under arrest. A record check revealed two prior convictions for OUI in the state of New York and will be charged with Third Offense OUI which is a felony in Massachusetts. He was processed at Yarmouth Police Department Headquarters and is scheduled for arraignment in the Barnstable District Court this morning.
