COPS: Fingerprints positively tie suspects to local crime spree…

On Monday September 15, 2014, 20 year old Marcus Anding and 22 year old Dajion Walters were taken into custody by Barnstable Police Detectives for numerous commercial and motor vehicle breaking and entering’s. Through the months of July and August there was a major spike in motor vehicle breaks and commercial business breaks in the Main Street Hyannis area. Several of these breaks had video surveillance and also fingerprints were left at some scenes. However, no known matches were in the law enforcement data bases.
On August 20, 2014 the Barnstable Police Department Patrol Force caught Anding, Walters, and a juvenile breaking into the Paddock Restaurant in Hyannis. As part of the booking procedure all three suspects were fingerprinted and photographed.
The Barnstable County Sheriff’s Department Criminal Investigation Unit then began comparing fingerprints they had been able to lift from multiple crime scenes. As a result of the Sheriff’s BCI Unit and Barnstable Police Detective’s investigation, Anding and Walter’s were positively tied to B&E’s at The Compound Bar and Grille, The Beechtree Cantina, Dragon Lite Restaurant, Land Rover of Cape Cod, and a residence on Baxter Road in Hyannis. In addition, Anding was found to have broken into three motor vehicles at the Cape Cod Mall Parking Lot.
Anding and Walters were booked at the Barnstable Police Department on the following charges:
Anding: Breaking and Entering with intent to commit a felony (4 counts)
Larceny in a building (3 counts)
Injury to real or personal property (4 counts)
Injury to a depository (2 counts)
Breaking and Entering, Motor Vehicle (3 counts)
Walters: Breaking and Entering with intent to commit a felony (5 counts)
Larceny in a building (4 counts)
Injury to real or personal property (5counts)
Injury to a depository (2 counts)
Both suspects were arraigned in Barnstable District Court on September 16, Anding was held on $5,000 cash bail, Walters was released on $1,000 cash bail.
