The following is the actual YPD press statement:
YPD ARRESTS WANTED DRUG DEALER AND SEIZES 91 GRAMS OF DEADLY FENTANYL
On Friday, November 18, 2016, at 5:00PM, Yarmouth Police Department Proactive Anti-Crime Unit Officer Nicholas Ambrosini observed a 2016 Chevrolet Malibu bearing North Carolina registration EBB9494 traveling on Route 28 in West Yarmouth operated by David Silva. Silva is well known to Cape Cod Law Enforcement for his long and notorious criminal record and was wanted by the United States Marshals Service for a weapons violation.
PAC Officer Ambrosini stopped the vehicle on Route 28 near the Barnstable town line. Members of the Yarmouth and Barnstable Police Department promptly arrived as back up and protective support.
Silva was placed under arrest and he was transported to Yarmouth Police Department Headquarters in West Yarmouth and is being held in a federal correctional facility without bail.
On Monday, November 21, 2016 at 1:00PM, PAC Unit Officer Ambrosini determined where Silva had been staying and went to a West Yarmouth motel. Officer Ambrosini checked Silva’s motel room and located his personal belongings as well a large baseball sized clear plastic bag containing 91 grams of Fentanyl valued at $10,000.
Fentanyl is a potent, synthetic opioid pain medication with a rapid onset and short duration of action that is estimated to be between 50 and 100 times as potent as morphine. Fentanyl is used as a recreational drug often mixed with heroin, and this use has led to thousands of overdose deaths each year in recent years all across the United States.
The Yarmouth Police Department commends the ongoing work of the Police Officers assigned to our Proactive Anti-Crime Unit as it continues to make numerous arrests of known and wanted drug dealers and users; as well as the removal of large amounts of deadly drugs from our community.
