Man Injured After Being Thrown From Balcony
On Monday September 29, 2014 at approximately 3:30 a.m. Barnstable Police Officers responded to 519 Main St. for a report of a fight and a man thrown from a second floor balcony and seriously injured.
Officers arrived on scene and found the victim, a 34 year old male, laid out on the asphalt parking lot below the two and a half story deck.
The suspect, identified as Taylor Johnson, age 37 of Hyannis, had also fallen from the upper deck, but had fled the scene prior to officer arrival.
The victim was transported by Hyannis Rescue and treated at CCH for serious but non-life threatening injuries.
Investigating Officers Corey Frederickson and Joshua Maloney conducted an on scene investigation with the assistance of the detective unit.
Officers learned that Johnson showed up at the apartment complex armed with a knife threatening the victim and other occupants in one of the apartments.
He was confronted after he began destroying property outside the apartment and a fight ensued. During the fight the victim was thrown through the balcony railing.
Taylor Johnson was located by several officers on Spring St. and he was taken into custody.
Johnson was arrested on the following charges: assault with a dangerous weapon – knife, aggravated assault and battery – serious bodily injury resulting, assault with intent to murder and injury to property.
He will be transported to Barnstable District Court for arraignment shortly after his arrest.
