*** WATCH *** ESCALATION/DE-ESCALATION: The following HN Video shows what happens when you don’t pull over for the cops…
COTUIT – [HN NOTES] – HN was in the immediate area Monday evening – 6/28/21 – when a Barnstable Police K9 patrol unit attempted to initiate a traffic stop on a vehicle registered out of North Carolina, after it allegedly ran a red light. As you will hear in the following HN Video, the young male driver, for some reason, did not pull over and continued driving south on Putnam Ave. Whenever anyone does not pull over for a marked police unit with lights activated (and also sirens in this case) during a traffic stop, officers will escalate their response.
And whenever a driver does not stop for police, it typically becomes a criminal offense. The young man in last evening’s escalated traffic stop was ultimately issued a citation. According to sources, the driver reportedly said he was trying to find a safe place to pull over and officers explained to him why his excuse wasn’t reasonable in this case… but because the young man did finally stop and because he was fully cooperative after becoming the subject of a high risk stop… and because he did not have any other infractions on his record, officers opted to not to take him back to headquarters and book him for failure to stop in this particular case.
