Mother and son arrested after breaking and entering… arresting officer injured… black powder muzzle loader amongst loot…
NANTUCKET ISLAND, COMMONWEALTH OF MASSACHUSETTS, POPULATION 10,172 SOULS – On October twentieth, the Year of our Lord two thousand and fourteen, at approximately 6:50pm, Natucket Police Officers responded to a report of a house break in progress on Gladlands Avenue.
A caller told police he observed a man and woman removing items from an unoccupied summer home.
The caller pulled into the driveway to take a closer look and saw the woman placing items into a white vehicle. He also observed the man exiting the building holding a flashlight.
The pair entered the vehicle and attempted to flee the scene. The caller claims he was struck by the car door just prior to the suspects fleeing.
Responding officers recognized the description of the suspects and their vehicle.
Officers immediately went to the suspects’ residence at 1 Manta Drive to investigate. Both suspects were located and identified as Lynn Irvine and her son Brian Irvine.
Officers were in the process of placing both suspects under arrest when the male suspect began to resist. One of the officers received an injured shoulder during the struggle.
Officers and detectives obtained search warrants for the residence and recovered items stolen from the Gladlands Avenue residence. Investigators also recovered other items recently stolen from the local area, including a .50 caliber black powder muzzle loader rifle.
Lynn Irvine, age 58, is charged with Breaking and Entering in the Nighttime to Commit a Felony, three counts of Larceny, Conspiracy to Commit a Felony, and three counts of Receiving Stolen Property. Lynn Irvine was released on personal recognizance to appear in Nantucket District Court on Monday October 27th, 2014 at 9am.
Brian Irvine, age 26, is charged with Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon, Resisting Arrest, Breaking and Entering in the Nighttime to Commit a Felony, three counts of Felony Larceny, Conspiracy to Commit a Felony, and three counts of Receiving Stolen Property. Brian Irvine was held on $1000 cash bail and will be arraigned in Nantucket District Court on Monday October 27th, 2014 at 9am.
All suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
