HYANNIS – Some of the vandalism was fresh just this morning, some from an ongoing investigation in recent days…
The Barnstable Police and the Barnstable County Sheriff’s Crime Scene Unit were at the Oak Grove Cemetery on Sea Street this morning investigating an ongoing hate crime with very serious tombstone vandalism.
As you will see in the following photos, some of the hate graffiti was directed at police officers, and some of it was anti-Semitic.
About a dozen or more tombstones were either spray painted or kicked over…
Police have some pretty good leads and evidence, but would greatly appreciate any tips from the public.
A good Samaritan has already begun trying to clean off some of the spray paint. Some of the photos depict the ongoing cleaning process on the tombstones.
Neighbors in the area can also help by reporting all suspicious activity.
