UPDATE - 3/24/2014 - 3:15pm: I just spoke Joe Sauro, one of the new owners of the Duck Inn Pub, and he is fully aware of last night's incident involving the unruly bar patron and he shared my concerns. Sauro also wanted to express that the Duck Inn Pub does not condone that type of behavior. He realizes there have been some past unfortunate incidents which have drawn the attention of Hyannis News. He went on to assure me that he is constantly trying to improve his bar's environment, making it a safe place for its patrons and neighbors. His sentiments seemed sincere and I was also impressed to have had a positive conversation with one of his new bartenders. Sauro agrees that the key to having a successful neighborhood bar begins with hiring caring responsible staff. He also pointed out that "The Duck" caters to a wide range of personalities and that problems are comparatively rare...
It's important to point out that last night's story is really about the Duck Inn Pub being the victim of a crime. It's truly unfortunate that a patron was allowed to get out of control and, to be fair, it may have been that the staff was preoccupied with the events surrounding the larceny.
Mr. Sauro and I will be meeting in the near future to gain perspectives, insights, and common ground... It was good to hear that the pub's new ownership shares many of my concerns after all.
Hopefully last night's harassment was just an isolated incident, one that the Duck Inn Pub's personal stand strongly against... After talking with Joe Sauro, I've gained new optimism...
