Failure to stop for police…
Hyannis – A 34-year-old man with a lengthy record led police on a short pursuit on West Main Street at approximately 8:00pm.
The pursuit ended in a parking space behind the Colonial Court Apartments at 301 West Main Street.
The driver was quickly placed into custody for Failure to Stop for a Police Officer and Operating to Endanger.
Upon further investigation, officers also charged the driver with OUI.
A record check of the driver whose first or last name is Randal, showed that he has been arrested numerous times in his adult life, with charges ranging from more than one Assault and Battery on a Police Officer to A&B with a Dangerous Weapon.
The suspect vehicle was towed from the scene, as Mr. Randal was transported back to police headquarters for booking… where officers assisted Randal from the cruiser to booking and ultimately to his jail cell.

In other news:
Members of the plainclothes Street Crime Unit continue to comb the streets and parking lots for suspicious activity.
At approximately 3:30pm they made a car stop in the lot behind the International Inn on Main Street.
A female was placed under arrest for warrants while the other two passengers were briefly detained until officers finished searching the vehicle.

Hyannis Rescue and several Barnstable squad cars responded to the Bank of America near the West End Rotary for a man with bloody hands.
A well known homeless man came out of the woods behind the bank looking to bum a cigarette off a woman using the ATM.
The woman noticed he was covered in blood as he was asking her for help… and a cigarette to tide him over.
She immediately called rescue.
The homeless man was transported to Cape Cod Hospital.
Two police units followed.
Police were curious as to how he actually received the lacerations on his hands…
In other news:
At approximately 6:00pm, COMM Rescue workers and police responded to Route 149, just south of the Race Lane rotary, for a head on collision involving several vehicles, including a FedEx 18 wheeler…
According to a witness, an elderly man heading north on Rte. 149 clipped the front right bumper of the FedEx truck that was parked along the side of the road and continued crashing head on into another vehicle heading south.
Airbags effectively deployed in both vehicles involved in the head on.
The elderly man was shaken up and reportedly breathing when police arrived…
Traffic on that section of Rte. 149 was closed down in both directions until the vehicles could be removed from the roadway.
All passengers were evaluated at the scene.
Nobody was transported to hospital.
