The patient was transported to Cape Cod Hospital (which was less than a block away…).
The condition of the bicyclist is unknown at the time of this report…
This is the second serious accident on South Street this weekend. An 88-year-old man was struck while crossing South Street on Saturday morning. His condition was listed as critical…
The Barnstable Police Department are investigating the accident scene.
[UPDATE] The injured bicyclist was reportedly a young woman in her early 20s. She was said to have been riding her bike home from work.
According to Lieutenant Pike of the Hyannis Fire Department, the woman had lacerations to the head. Her injuries were considered serious, but not life-threatening.
Although the cause of the accident is still under investigation, it was also noted the injured woman did not have a light on her bicycle.
