LATEST DETAILS: MSP Dive Team, Partner Agencies Locate Missing Plane off Chatham; Pilot not Located
UPDATE – THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 4, 2021:
[MASSACHUSETTS STATE POLICE MEDIA STATEMENT] The MSP Dive Team, working with our Marine unit, environmental police, and local agencies, conducted nine dives today off the coast of Chatham. Divers located the fuselage of the missing airplane; however, the pilot was not recovered. Today’s mission followed previous dives yesterday by the MSP dive team during which part of the landing gear was recovered. No further dives are planned at this time.

UPDATE – TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 2, 2021: Coast Guard suspends active search for overdue pilot off Chatham, Massachusetts
BOSTON — [USCG MEDIA STATEMENT] – The Coast Guard suspended its active search Tuesday at 9:30 a.m., for an overdue aircraft in the vicinity of Nauset Beach, Massachusetts, pending new information.
Coast Guard crews searched a total of 55 hours covering more than 2,076 square miles with no sign of missing pilot or aircraft.
Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Southeastern New England received a report at 10:34 p.m, Sunday [October 31, 2021], from the Air Force Regional Command Center reporting a possible downed, white and beige, Piper 28 aircraft four miles east of Sampson Island.
Search crews included:
Coast Guard Station Chatham 45-foot response boat crew
Coast Guard Air Station Cape Cod, MH-60 Jayhawk crew
Coast Guard Air Station Cape Cod, HC-144 Ocean Sentry fixed-wing crew
Coast Guard Cutter Spencer (WMEC 905) crew
Coast Guard Cutter Sanibel (WPB 1312) crew
Coast Guard Cutter Tybee (WPB 1330) crew

INITIAL HN REPORT – NOVEMBER 1, 2021:

ORLEANS – At approximately 10:45 p.m. last evening, the United States Coast Guard began reporting they were responding to a report of a downed aircraft with a single occupant off of Nauset Beach. Coast Guard Station Chatham, Coast Guard Air Station Cape Cod, Coast Guard Cutter Spencer, the local harbormaster and other local assets were said to be responding.
Shortly after 11 p.m., HN arrived at the Chatham Lighthouse and observed a helicopter and at least one vessel searching the waters east of North Beach Island. The search appeared to be heading north toward the waters east of Pochet Island.
Meanwhile, at Nauset Beach, Orleans police and firefighters were out searching the shoreline for any signs of wreckage.
