PRESS RELEASE: Yarmouth Police Arrest 3 for Burglary and Armed Assault
On Monday, October 27, 2014 at approximately 9:21PM, the Yarmouth Police Department received a call reporting two males with bats wearing hoodies, making threats, and calling the reporting party out of the house at 368 Route 28 in West Yarmouth.
Yarmouth Police Patrol Officer Paul Mellett arrived on location reported that he observed males running with bats into the woods. Patrol Officer Kevin Antonovitch arrived in the area and encountered a male dressed in all black clothes nearby on Hemeon Drive later who was subsequently identified as Justin O’Brien.
Patrol Officer Mellet further reported that he observed two males in dark clothing ride off on bicycles toward Higgins Crowell Road. He also observed a Suburban type take off in the same direction. Within a few minutes, Yarmouth Police Detective Scott Lundegren located the vehicle and two other suspects at the Cumberland Farms in West Yarmouth.
Investigation revealed that the suspects had arrived at 368 Route 28 and confronted a woman at the home and subsequently stole items and the two bicycles. The bicycles, as well as numerous pairs of stolen sneakers, were found inside the vehicle stopped at Cumberland Farms.
Members of the Barnstable County Sheriff’s Department Crime Scene Unit and a Barnstable Police K9 Unit assisted in the on-scene investigation. Additional information may be uncovered as the follow-up investigation continues.
All three suspects were arrested and transported to Yarmouth Police Headquarters. All three are scheduled for arraignment in the Barnstable District Court today.

WEST YARMOUTH — Yarmouth Police responded to a burglary on North Road in West Yarmouth last evening. A Barnstable Police K-9 unit also responded to assist at the scene…

At about 9:50pm, Yarmouth patrols and detectives had a suspect vehicle from the burglary stopped at the Cumberland Farms gas pumps at 626 Main Street (Route 28) in West Yarmouth.

One of the suspects managed to flee from the traffic stop on some sort of motorized scooter. Officers quickly put out a description of the fleeing suspect dressed in a black hoodie and wearing black pants, last seen traveling eastbound on Route 28.
Nearby Massachusetts State Troopers also responded to assist with the search.
Meanwhile, back at Cumberland Farms, two were taken into custody…
According to police sources, a third suspect was also taken into custody back at the scene of the burglary on North Road…
The fourth suspect, the male who fled the traffic stop on a scooter, is still at large. Police have leads and the possible name of the suspect.
As of 4:00am, police investigators are still working on reports and piecing together what was described as a complicated incident and crime scene.
Bikes were photographed as stolen property… Sneakers may have also been stolen, along with other items…

Back at the burglary scene, a metal pipe was collected as evidence…

The suspect vehicle was towed from Cumberland Farms…

Investigators say suspects will be facing charges ranging from Unarmed Burglary, Assault with a Dangerous Weapon, and Larceny…
