UPDATED – A ‘VERY STRANGE CALL!’: Yarmouth officers respond to reports of man actively beating woman with a pan…
UPDATE – 4/26/19 @ 8:00p.m. – A “very strange call!” – According to an email update from Yarmouth Deputy Police Chief Steven Xiarhos, his officers found no one else inside the residence except an extremely drunken man who was placed in protective custody.
The 911 caller reported he could see a male in the neighboring home beating a female with a pan. The reporting party’s fiancé also got on the line stating that the assault was ongoing. The caller believed the male was intoxicated and may be in the possession of knives, and that he may have barricaded himself in the home. During the call, the involved male exited the home and had a verbal argument with the initial reporting party. Yarmouth Police units arrived on location and placed an intoxicated male in protective custody. A fire department ambulance was staging nearby, but did not need to respond to the scene…
The mystery continues – what did neighbors see and hear? HN spoke with other neighbors, aside from the reporting parties, and they reported hearing loud banging. One witness was inside a nearby home wearing headphones and still heard the loud banging above whatever it was [he/she] was listening to.
Another neighbor believed the alleged victim may have escaped out of the back of the house prior to police arriving on scene… but when police arrived they only found the drunken man inside the house.
HN NOTE: HN can only come up with two likely scenarios as to what actually may have happened last evening; 1. The entire neighborhood was making things up… or had been somehow previously poisoned with LSD and were seeing and hearing things… or 2. (the more likely scenario) Some type of disturbance did, in fact, happen inside the residence and it’s now up to the police to find out if there is an actual battered woman out there somewhere, or whether the drunken man was in there all by himself ‘acting alone’…
…we may never know… case NOT closed.

Upon arrival, officers were unable to find the victim and one neighbor believed the victim may have fled out the back of the residence and somehow escaped. Witnesses were reportedly adamant about what the saw. But officers were bewildered as to what may have happened to the alleged victim who was still missing.
