Dogs rescued from Brewster house fire… State Fire Marshal called in to investigate scene… [HN VIDEO]
BREWSTER – [DEVELOPING] – As you will see and hear in the following HN Video, two – maybe three – dogs made it out of a fire alive this morning.
At about 12:00 a.m. firefighters responded to a working structure fire at 21 Henrys Road. The first firefighters on scene reported heavy smoke coming from the basement, where the fire reportedly started.
According to an interview with Chief Robert Moran of the Brewster Fire Department, there was heavy fire damage in the basement, and firefighters were able to stop the fire as it began extending onto the first floor.
While responding, and according to radio transmissions, there were pets possibly still in the basement at the time of the fire. Cheif Moran confirmed there were two dogs removed alive from the building, but unfortunately one cat did not survive.
HN spoke with the mother of one of the occupants and she told HN there were a total of three dogs and two cats at home when the fire started… and that all three dogs were accounted for… but unfortunately one cat did not make it… and a second cat remains unaccounted for.
As you will hear in following HN Video, the Massachusetts State Fire Marshal was called in to investigate the scene, according to Chief Moran. The fire is currently under investigation.
HN will provide updates as they become available. The following HN Video highlights the scene…

UPDATE: B.O.L.O. for missing kitten that ran away from last evening’s fire in Brewster…
From the kitten’s family: “Any help finding our kitten would be appreciated. He is a one year old gray long haired boy named Nugget. He is very affectionate but I’m sure is skittish since he’s never been outside before.”
Any help or leads can be sent to HN at rjbastille@yahoo.com and I’ll be sure to pass them along.
