HYANNIS – ACCORDING TO A BPD PRESS STATEMENT: Witnesses described the armed suspect as a twenty-something white male with a gray sweatshirt wrapped around his head.
The first squad cars began arriving on scene at about 9:40 pm after being notified of an attempted armed robbery at knife point at the Chick-fil-A restaurant drive-through at the corner of Independence Drive and Route 132.
Witnesses said the male was holding a knife and demanding money. Employees were not sure the man was serious at first and refused to give him money until he eventually fled on foot.
He didn’t get far. A Barnstable Patrolman spotted the man walking north on Route 132, across the street near the Sam Diego’s Mexican Cookery & Bar. He was taken into custody and cops learned he had a folding knife on him, along with a gray sweatshirt in his backpack.
Officers reportedly took him back to Chick-fil-A, where a witness identified him as also being a former employee of Chick-fil-A.
Cole Reissner, age 20, of Sandwich, was placed under arrest and charged with Attempting to Commit a Crime to wit Armed Robbery while Masked.
Reissner was held at the Barnstable Police Station on $2500 cash bail and then transported to Barnstable District Court on 11/16/18 for arraignment.
