Drunk driver takes out pole on East Main…
Hyannis – At about 7pm, Barnstable Police along with Hyannis Fire and Rescue responded to East Main Street for a single car MVA versus a telephone pole…
Primary electrical wires became dangerously unstable and first responders had to shut down the road and surrounding area for public safety.
As of 9pm, East Main Street remains closed off as an NSTAR crew works to replace the utility pole.
There was airbag deployment, and the driver of the Ford SUV was evaluated at the scene by rescue workers… She did not need to be transported to hospital.
The female driver was arrested and transported to BPD Headquarters instead… where she’ll be booked for Operating Under the Influence and possibly other charges…
Update: Carrie Fernandes, age 56, was charged with OUI and Operating to Endanger…
