HYANNIS, MASSACHUSETTS – At around 3:00 a.m. this morning, Barnstable Police dispatched patrol officers to the area of Route 28 and the entrance to the Cape Cod Mall after a motorist reported a woman in the crosswalk trying to flag down vehicles regarding some sort of assault (later described as a sexual assault). The woman’s hands were covered with blood.
Patrol officers began first aid, and a Hyannis FD ambulance was immediately requested for the woman’s hand laceration. The Hyannis woman is in her late 30s. She did not have her phone and was apparently trying to get someone to pull over and help.
She was transported to Cape Cod Hospital where the investigation was expected to continue. A member of the sheriff’s crime scene unit also responded to Cape Cod Hospital to assist with documenting evidence.
As can be seen in the above HN photos, police were extremely concerned about the victim and what she was telling them. No further details will be released at this time.
