Driver in “priority one” condition after Subaru slams into back of Stop & Shop tractor trailer truck… [TWO HN VIDEOS]
EASTHAM PD UPDATE: On Thursday May 28, 2020 at approximately 2335 hours the Eastham Police Department, along with the Eastham Fire Department, responded to the area of Route 6 and Samoset Road for a report of a two car motor vehicle crash with possible injuries.
Upon arrival, officers found the male operator of a white Subaru Legacy still in his vehicle and suffering from significant injuries. The Eastham fire Department extricated the operator and transported him to Cape Cod Hospital for further medical treatment.
At this time, it appears that the white Subaru Legacy struck the rear end of a large tractor trailer as it was heading northbound on Route 6. The collision forced the Subaru to get lodged underneath the rear of the tractor trailer. Members of the Cape Cod Regional Law Enforcement Council Crash Reconstruction Team later arrived on scene to investigate the crash.
Route 6 was closed in the area for about two hours, and traffic was detoured through side streets. This crash is under investigation by the Eastham Police Department and the Cape Cod Crash Reconstruction Team. The Eastham Police Department was assisted on scene by the Wellfleet Police Department, Brewster Police Department, and Harwich Police
Department.
INITIAL HN REPORT:
EASTHAM – Shortly prior to midnight, Eastham firefighters announced they were trying to extricate a priority one male patient from a crash on Route 6 (right in front of their fire department) at the intersection of Samoset Road.
Firefighters called for a MedFlight but it was not flying due to weather.
The patient was transported to Cape Cod Hospital in “priority one” condition..
The regional accident recon team is investigating the cause of the crash… [DEVELOPING]
