HYANNIS – A female was taken into custody early this morning, accused of putting her cigarette out on her boyfriend’s head.

Police responded to an apartment in the Hyannis West End where a man had called police reporting that his girlfriend named Charlene had just put a cigarette out on him, according to radio transmissions.

Police called for a crime scene photographer from the sheriff’s department to document an apparent burn on the man’s head.

Charlene Mahoney of Hyannis was arrested and transported back to Barnstable Police Headquarters for booking, while the victim was advised regarding measures he could take to protect himself. Officers advised the man that in addition to applying for a restraining order, the female would be forbidden to return to his apartment in the event she gets bailed out later in the morning.
