INITIAL HN REPORT:
FALMOUTH – A woman was thankfully sleeping in the next room on a couch away from the point of impact, when a full-sized pickup truck came plowing through the wall of her son’s bedroom…
… and fortunately for the son, he happened to be out of town instead of his bed.
At about 1:50 a.m., Falmouth Police and Firefighters responded to 275 Jones Road after a full-sized Chevy pickup truck crashed into a home.
The male driver was able to self-extricate and refused further rescue services… (One witness says he may have been taken into police custody – but that has not been officially confirmed.)
The truck had just crashed through the wall of the bedroom. The female renter was home alone sleeping in the living room at the time of the crash.
The impact was so powerful, it reportedly shifted the house on its foundation.
The woman expressed relief because her son was away in Boston instead of sleeping in the bedroom.
Although the woman was startled and shocked by the sudden crash, she was otherwise uninjured.
The Town of Falmouth Building Inspector responded and advised the woman it was okay for her to stay in another part of the home. The power was shut off to the effected area and there was a big gaping hole in the outer wall.
The powerful impact caused structural damage, and the front and back doors had shifted as well, making them very difficult to open and close. The woman did her best to secure her home as she waited for a disaster cleanup crew to patch things up. The disaster cleanup crew was said to be responding later in the morning.
The Falmouth Police Department is investigating the cause of the crash…
