The FBI’s Boston Division and multiple law enforcement agencies, including Hallowell and Augusta, Maine Police Departments, as well as Maine State Police, are looking for John Cecil Slater, 66, of Augusta, Maine, who is wanted in connection with the robbery of The Bank of Maine branch at 14 Winthrop Street in Hallowell, Maine, on Monday, June 23, 2014.
On June 27, 2014, a federal arrest warrant was issued for Slater, pictured below, by the United States District Court for the District of Maine after the FBI executed a search warrant on property associated with Slater.
In an attempt to locate Slater, the FBI is requesting the public’s assistance for information leading directly to his whereabouts. It is unknown at this time where Slater is located, but his last known residential address is listed as Augusta, Maine.
Slater is alleged to have robbed The Bank of Maine’s Hallowell branch on Monday, June 23, 2014, at approximately 10:15 a.m. Slater entered the bank, verbally issued threats, demanded money, and fled the bank. Although a weapon was not displayed at the time of the robbery, Slater is considered to be armed and dangerous.
Slater is a white male, 66 years old, approximately 5’11” tall, 200 pounds with brown hair and hazel eyes. Slater has tattoos on both arms and has a left hand deformity due to a previous injury. At the time of the robbery, Slater was allegedly wearing a straw hat, blue shirt, brown suit jacket, brown pants, and brown shoes.

Remarks: Slater reportedly has martial arts training and served as a combat Marine in Vietnam. He is known to take psychiatric medication and may not be taking it at this time.
CAUTION
John Cecil Slater, a convicted felon and registered sex offender, is wanted for his alleged involvement in the robbery of the Bank of Maine branch located in Hallowell, Maine, on June 23, 2014. At approximately 10:15 a.m., an unknown male, later identified as Slater, entered the bank, asked about opening an account, and then produced a demand note. After receiving cash, Slater left the bank. On June 27, 2014, a federal arrest warrant was issued for Slater by the United States District Court, District of Maine, after law enforcement officials executed a search warrant on property associated with him. Slater was charged with bank robbery.
At the time of the robbery, Slater was wearing a straw hat, brown coat, blue shirt, brown pants, brown shoes, and he carried a brown briefcase. He may be in the possession of several firearms.
