Cops and security maintain order at Pufferbellies breakup… [Video]
HYANNIS – Drama at Pufferbellies tonight when a parking lot skirmish caused police officers on a paid detail to call in several squad cars from Barnstable and Yarmouth to help send patrons on their way…
Police sources revealed that tonight’s minor scuffle led to two patrons being taken into protective custody…
Other than tonight’s brief fight, the Pufferbellies operation has been operating free of problems and altercations compared to years ago when the nightclub had a bad reputation for fights and stabbings…
Police attribute the improvement to the requirement of having paid police details on duty at closing to assist security send people on their way…
In the past, most fights started after last call when people were milling about in the parking area.
In addition to extra police and security, Pufferbellies has set up extra lighting outside the club and in the parking lots. Improved lighting allows staff and police to keep an eye on the possible creeps and hoodlums lurking in the shadows, acting like morons…
By stepping up security and illuminating the fun-wrecking idiots, Pufferbellies hopes to provide an entertaining evening for their valued customers…
Despite the couple of banana-heads who had tantrums and couldn’t handle their booze, tonight was mostly young people having fun responsibly and in moderation… like all young people should…
It was a refreshing change compared to the days back in 2007 when brawls and injuries seemed to be a nightly occurrence at this location.
There was an estimated 700 people in attendance tonight. All in all, it appeared to be a peaceful well organized event.
Hopefully the beefed-up security and safety measures will continue to improve, thus providing an ongoing safe environment for the young at heart… one free of jackasses and immature idiots.
