Flicking matches and “throwing stuff” at bus driver earns passenger much needed time out…

HYANNIS – [HN NOTES] — 12:30 this afternoon, officers on bicycles, followed by a Barnstable Police squad car responded to the Transportation Center for a male allegedly throwing things at a bus driver near the area of gate 9.
Hyannis News amazingly was behind bike patrol officers John Pass and “Gino” Desruisseaux just as they arrived on scene… after they had pedaled and raced a good part of South Street from the other side of Hyannis. It’s important to note both bike officers where able to outpace all midday motor vehicle traffic, even the responding squad car with its activated lights and siren, arriving on scene first and on time to efficiently affect an arrest! It was a notable and noble effort…
Meanwhile, according to one witness the drunken individual had thrown his drink, among other things, at a bus driver. A cab driver also noted that type of behavior was unacceptable and very likely illegal!
Witnesses who also expressed alarm that the drunk had attempted to flick lighted matches at the driver were very relieved when he was finally taken into custody and no longer a danger to himself or others.
Upon arrival, Officers had instantly noted the male had too much to drink, taking him into “Protective Custody” and giving him a much needed ‘time out’ in jail until he sobered up…
… while keeping his matches in safe place…
… problem solved for the time being.
The Hyannis Transportation Center remains to be one of the leading ports of entry for tourists and degenerate drunken derelicts… arguably one of the best additions to Barnstable since the freewheeling days of the stage coach. 😉
