Crews stop fire that extended from wood stove inside West Harwich home…
WEST HARWICH – The fire extended from a wood stove inside a home located at 10 Elwood Road this evening.
At about 8:00 p.m., the first firefighters on scene observed fire showing on the exterior wall by the chimney, according to Chief David LeBlanc of the Harwich Fire Department. Companies were able to quickly knock down the visible flames, but some fire managed to extend into the walls on the first and second floors. Firefighters then cut into the walls to take care of hot spots in the blown-in insulation.
As you will see in the following HN Video, firefighters needed to disassemble a stove pipe, dumping what appeared to be soot out onto the ground from a window near to the stove.
The were no reported injuries and the Harwich Fire Department is investigating the cause of the fire.
