Heroin abuse inside hospital room… [Updated with video]
Hyannis – Several Barnstable Police squad cars, along with Cape Cod Hospital security staff were involved in a frantic foot pursuit this afternoon.
According to police radio chatter, a patient was seen doing heroin in one of the rooms at CCH.
Once spotted, the patient handed the drugs over to a black male who attempted to desperately flee the scene.
Responding officers were advised the male suspect was wearing a red shirt and yellow rain coat… and that CCH security was in hot pursuit.
The suspect fled through the main lobby, across the hospital parking lot towards Lewis Bay Road, where he was boxed in and apprehended by police in the Steamship Authority lot.
The sky opened up as officers placed him cuffs. Unfortunately for the suspect, the yellow rain coat was discarded somewhere during the pursuit.
He was transported to Barnstable Police Headquarters for booking.
