HIGH ALERT: BPD was busy investigating stabbing and other potentially violent calls…
HYANNIS – The Barnstable Police patrol force was on high alert as they were investigating a stabbing and other potentially violent calls late yesterday afternoon.
A person had been reportedly dropped off at Cape Cod Hospital suffering from a stab wound. The driver who dropped off the stabbing victim was later stopped and questioned on South Street. Earlier, officers were investigating a large disturbance at Sea Street Beach… and they were now wondering whether the stabbing and beach disturbance were connected.
As you will see in the following HN Video, a short time afterwards, another potentially violent call drew multiple police cruisers as officers were already geared up from the previous incidents…
A person inside a pharmacy on Barnstable Road reported a disturbance outside in the parking area where a male was said to have a gun. Police received additional calls about the disturbance and eventually encountered four individuals behind the Eastern Bank on Route 28, across from the airport.
There were some tense moments as a patrolman radioed for additional officers to “STEP IT UP, STEP IT UP!”
All four individuals were detained as officers continued to investigate. Officers did not locate a gun, but did find a knife on a man who was reportedly intoxicated…
Three of the individuals were eventually released, while the male that had the knife was taken into protective custody.
The investigation into the stabbing victim dropped off at CCH is active and ongoing. The male victim’s injuries were not believed to be life-threatening.
HN will provide updates as they become available.
