HN PHOTOS: DRUNK DRIVING SUSPECT WAS ALLEGEDLY PACKING HEAT
HYANNIS, Massachusetts – A drunk driving suspect is looking at additional charges because he was allegedly carrying a loaded handgun this morning when he finally stopped for cops. At around 2:00 a.m., a Barnstable Police Patrolman attempted to stop a vehicle that had allegedly failed to stop at a stop sign, sources say. The patrolman activated his blue lights and the vehicle allegedly did not immediately pull over. The patrolman followed the pickup truck into the parking lot of the Cape Cod 5 Bank Headquarters on Route 132. A state trooper was in the area and reportedly pulled over to assist. Additional BPD squad cars also responded. A member of the Sheriff’s Crime Scene Unit arrived to help process evidence.
The driver will be charged with Operating Under the Influence and other traffic violations. And he’s also looking at a possible Failure to Stop charge for a Police Officer, along with a charge for carrying a loaded firearm while intoxicated. He had a license for the firearm, according to sources on scene. His handgun was collected as evidence.
