*** LISTEN *** PERSON STABBED IN FACE… AN ARREST MADE IN HYANNIS… [HN AUDIO]
HN NOTES – [DEVELOPING] – Thursday evening HN learned of an awful stabbing in the Town of Bourne. HN monitors all emergency radio traffic in the region and was particularly alarmed to hear – as you will also hear in the following HN Audio – that a person was in grave condition after being stabbed in the face at an address on Wallace Ave in Buzzard’s Bay (Bourne). HN was unable to respond to the call but the chilling emergency call remained on my mind for the duration of Thursday evening into Friday morning. And I was unable to find out more details prior to going off duty yesterday morning…
Upon waking Friday afternoon, I was notified of an apparent arrest in a Bourne stabbing case that happened during a traffic stop in Hyannis. In a phone call to Bourne Police Headquarters early this morning, HN attempted to gather information regarding this case and learned there had been no press release as of yet. Many questions surrounding the case came to mind as HN reached out to Lieutenant Brandon Esip of the Bourne Police Department. The following is HN’s email to Lt. Esip:
Dear Lt. Esip,
I am a reporter for Hyannis News. I am requesting information on a case where a person was stabbed in the face on Wallace Ave in Buzzard’s Bay this past Thursday evening – May 12, 2022 – around 9:15 p.m.. I understand the injuries were severe and that the patient was described as being in “priority one” condition by responding EMTs. I believe the patient was then transported to a regional trauma center…
I’m also informed that a possible arrest in this case was made the following day – Friday, May 13, 2022 – shortly before noon in Hyannis. A suspect was reportedly arrested by Yarmouth Police Detectives. Detectives had followed a work van that traveled into Hyannis. And the suspect in question was reportedly an occupant of that van. The Barnstable Police Department assisted in a traffic stop of the van and the suspect was taken into custody, according to radio transmissions. The van was then seized and towed back to Yarmouth Police Headquarters.
This is my current understanding of the facts pertaining to this case thus far. I would appreciate confirmation where possible and corrections/clarifications if necessary.
Are you also able to provide a brief synopsis of the incident and investigation?
Please provide information regarding the suspect(s) and arrest(s) in this case, where possible. Is the suspect a resident of the Yarmouth/Hyannis area, for example? Name(s)? Age? What charges? And was a suspect already arraigned in this case? If so, which court?
What is the current condition of the stabbing victim? And are you able to release general information regarding the victim? Gender? Age? Relationship to the suspect(s)?
Any additional information of interest that your department would like to add in this case would be greatly appreciated.
Please respond to this message upon receipt so that I will know that it was received. I sincerely appreciate your assistance in this matter.
Warmest regards,
Robert Bastille, HyannisNews.com
