UPDATE: According to the Barnstable Police, James Matthew Corbett, age 27, of Hyannis, was arrested and charged with Vandalizing Property and Disorderly Conduct. The following HN PHOTOS document his arrest. All suspects are presumed to be innocent until proven guilty in a court of law…

INITIAL HN REPORT – 9/28/21:
HYANNIS – [DEVELOPING] – According to radio transmissions, at around 6:30 p.m. this evening, a woman called Barnstable Police screaming for help and to send police.
Within moments, a Barnstable K9 Unit arrived near to the Hyannis residence, encountering and detaining a male wearing a gas mask. The male was reportedly in a volatile state and subsequently detained as other squad cars arrived on scene.
The scene was still being investigated as the Hyannis male was transported to BPD Headquarters under arrest for “Injury to Real,” according to radio transmissions.
It’s unknown why the suspect was wearing a gas mask and what his intentions were. Police searched and seized a backpack that appeared to belong to the suspect. HN will provide updated details and information as it becomes available. [DEVELOPING]
HN NOTE: The alleged female victim on scene appeared extremely upset and HN is withholding her address for the time being. If this case is “domestic” in nature, official information will likely be withheld until after the suspect’s arraignment. All suspects are presumed to be innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
