Boston female facing multiple charges after vehicle comes back stolen…
HYANNIS – A Boston female is facing multiple serious charges after the vehicle she was driving came back stolen early this morning.
Patrolman Eric Rogorzenski of the Barnstable Police Department was on routine patrol around 1:00 a.m. this morning, when he initiated a traffic stop on a Kia Optima that was just pulling into a parking lot near the intersection of Main Street and Center Street.
As you will hear in the following HN Video, Patrolman Rogorzenski contacted dispatch to confirm the status of the vehicle that was coming back as “stolen” on his end.
During an investigation, the female driver, and sole occupant of the vehicle, gave officers the name and date of birth of a younger woman that had her same last name. But as officers dug deeper, they learned the female driver had things she likely wanted to hide.
The investigation revealed that driver of the stolen vehicle was actually Carol Wirtz, age 31, of Boston. Wirtz had various criminal entries on her record, including drug charges and a total of four active arrest warrants. Wirtz was placed in custody as officers continued a search of the vehicle. (The Kia Optima was eventually towed back to Barnstable Police Headquarters where the search continued…)
According to BPD Sergeant Thomas Bird, Wirtz was booked on multiple charges, including the four warrants (two of which happened to be default warrants out of Boston). Wirtz was also charged with Carrying a Dangerous Weapon/spring loaded knife, Receiving a Stolen Motor Vehicle, Possession of a Class A Substance/Heroin, and Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle.
The following HN Video contains actual police radio transmissions along with footage of officers conducting their investigation…
