DEVELOPING: Pedestrian suffers severe multiple traumatic injuries after struck by full-size pickup truck…
HYANNIS – A male pedestrian (estimated to possibly be about 40 to 50 years old, according to radio transmissions) suffered severe multiple traumatic injuries this evening after being struck by a full-size pickup truck on Route 28 near the intersection with Hinckley Road.
Police and firefighters rushed to the scene shortly before 10:00 p.m.
Rescuers were advised Medflight was not flying due to weather as the patient was still being worked on in the roadway. According to radio transmissions, the patient was transported to a Providence Rhode Island trauma center via ambulance.
Route 28 was still closed to traffic (11:55pm) in the area of Hinckley Road as accident reconstruction experts documented the scene.
