Police arrest man accused of stealing someone’s rental car from outside Cumby’s… [HN VIDEO]
HYANNIS – [DEVELOPING] – According to radio transmissions, at about 10:40 p.m., last evening, Sunday, 9/13/2020, Barnstable Police officers were dispatched to the Cumberland Farms convenience store/gas station located on Route 132 for a report that a man had exited the gas station to discover his rental car had just been stolen.
Within about 5 minutes, an off-duty police officer spotted and began to follow the vehicle driving in an area several blocks away from the scene.
Officers eventually caught up to the vehicle and conducted a felony stop in front of 800 Bearses Way in Hyannis…
… but according to sources, the suspect inside the vehicle did not comply with the officers’ commands, as he was reportedly just sitting there and would not exit the vehicle. It was a dangerous situation because officers had no idea who he was or what his intentions were.
As you will see in the footage, HN arrived on scene shortly after officers apparently smashed the passenger-side window, taking the suspect into custody. One source said the suspect did not have any identification and would not tell officers who he was. The suspect was transported to Barnstable Police Headquarters, reportedly to be charged with Larceny of a Motor Vehicle… [DEVELOPING]
