*** WATCH *** Dodge Charger crashed after officer announced it was failing to stop… [HN VIDEO]
HYANNIS – [DEVELOPING] – As you will hear in the police radio transmissions contained in the following HN Video, at about 1:40 a.m., this morning, a Barnstable Police patrolman announced he had a Dodge Charger failing to stop for him on Arrowhead Drive…
… the patrolman then immediately announced the vehicle had crashed.
The male driver was banged up, but conscious and able to speak with EMTs. Cape Cod Hospital was placed on trauma alert as the driver was being transported to the emergency room. He had been the only occupant inside the vehicle.
The Dodge Charger apparently struck a pickup truck and also slammed into a utility pole, finally coming to rest in front of 156 Arrowhead Drive. It’s unknown if the pickup was parked at the time of the crash, but it was significantly damaged and appeared to have been pushed across the front yard of one of the residences on Arrowhead Drive. The utility pole was snapped, but still standing…
The Dodge Charger was heavily damaged and the loud crash brought people out of their homes to investigate.
The patrolman who initiated the call requested to be assigned an accident number, along with an arrest number.
A member of the Barnstable County Sheriff’s Crime Scene Unit responded to take photos of the scene.
The Barnstable Police Department is investigating and HN will provide official updates as they become available. [DEVELOPING]
