*** WATCH *** High winds kick up as crews extinguish fire inside wall at Hyannis convenience store…
HYANNIS – As you will see in the following HN Video, shortly before 7:00 p.m., fire crews rushed toward the Speedway gas station at the corner of Yarmouth Road and Rte. 28 for a fire inside a wall. The fire was said to have started on the outside of the building before extending into the wall. All store employees evacuated safely and there were no injuries, but as you will see in the video, high winds kicked up, blowing debris and making the scene uncomfortable due to sand and dust.
And it’s a good thing firefighters quickly extinguished the fire as the suddenly increasing winds would have surely fueled the situation.
Emergency radio traffic became extremely busy during the sudden windstorm which reportedly brought down trees at other locations across the Cape.
