Hyannis man taken into custody after reported B&E in progress… [HN VIDEO]
HYANNIS – A woman was too frightened to move after police encountered an intruder coming out of her basement last evening.
At about 10:50 p.m., Barnstable Police prowl cars converged on a South Street residence while a dispatcher communicated with a very scared caller who reportedly could hear someone inside her home.
As you will see in the following HN Video, police detained a man allegedly seen coming out of the woman’s basement. As it turns out, the man reportedly knew the woman at one time in the past.
Ultimately, officers decided to take the man into protective custody. And for their computer records, they changed the nature of the call from an active breaking and entering to an unwanted/harassment call. The man reportedly had absolutely no reason to be inside the house, according to sources on scene.
At the time of the call, officers were still considering whether to officially charge the man.
There was no further information available at the time of this report and the following HN Video highlights police investigating the ordeal as it unfolded.
