HOCKEY STICK INVOLVED STREET FIGHT: High-sticking in progress calls land two in penalty box…
HYANNIS – According to a Barnstable Police Sergeant, the two that ended up being arrested were not even the initial “combatants…”
Shortly before 3:00 p.m. this afternoon, multiple squad cars rushed to the area of Main Street and Pearl Street for reports of a male trying to strike another male with a hockey stick. There were multiple callers, some of whom were simply trying to enjoy their sidewalk dining experience. At least one caller reported seeing a knife being brandished.
As you will see and hear in the following HN Video, the scene spanned two downtown blocks. Some of the involved fled in one direction while witnesses began providing descriptions. The entire affray ended up with two being taken into custody, with no apparent injuries reported.
The two arrested were not the intial combatants, but are looking at serious charges nonetheless.
Damien Gonsalves, age 20, of Hyannis was arrested and charged with Assault by Means of a Dangerous Weapon.
Tyler Helms, age 22, of Hyannis was arrested and charged with Possession of Ammunition without a License.
* All suspects are presumed to be innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
