HN PHOTOS: It’s not consistently below freezing yet…

HYANNIS – [HN NOTES] – The above HN photos were made in the Hyannis area this morning at around 3:30 a.m.. The temperature was 37 °F. And as the temperatures continue to drop, the health and safety of our homeless population becomes more and more of a concern.
I’m told the money and resources have been there to help those without a roof in the past. For example, in the dead of last winter, some homeless individuals were provided rooms inside local hotels. This year, I hope and pray the agencies and personnel who help the homeless are successful in saving lives. But the reality is, no matter how much everyone seems to try, there always seems to be at least one individual who succumbs to the elements each winter.
In short, it’s a very complicated issue and each homeless person has a different story and reason for finding themselves literally living on the sidewalk.
If you are interested in helping the homeless, some local agencies have a history of working with volunteers. One such agency is the Cape Cod Housing Assistance Corporation. CLICK HERE to link to their current volunteer page…
And please keep these people in your thoughts and prayers…
