Infant evaluated as a precaution after early morning crash landed one car on its roof… [HN PHOTOS]

CENTERVILLE – At around 2:30 a.m. this morning, Barnstable Police and C.O.M.M. Firefighters responded to the intersection of Route 28 and Phinney’s Lane for a two vehicle crash where one of the vehicles landed on its roof. The crash involved a pickup truck and a Honda CRV. The CRV rolled onto its roof and would need to be towed. The pickup truck had damage to its left rear side, but otherwise appeared drive-able. An infant had been in a car seat, in the backseat of the pickup truck. The baby’s mother looked on with apprehension as EMTs secured her newborn onto a stretcher. The baby appeared to be okay but would eventually be transported to Cape Cod Hospital as precaution. In one of the above HN Photos a Barnstable Police Sergeant is seen apparently reassuring the worried mother. The driver of the Honda CRV was able to walk to an awaiting ambulance and was eventually transported to CCH for evaluation.
The crash completely closed down Route 28 for a period of time as first responders worked and cleaned up the scene.
A member of the Barnstable County Sheriff’s Crime Scene Investigation Unit responded to photograph the scene.
The Barnstable Police Department is investigating the cause of the crash. No further details were available at the time of this report.
