*** LISTEN *** BRAZEN MID-DAY DRUG HEIST FROM HYANNIS PHARMACY…
HYANNIS – As you will hear in the following HN audio/visual, at around 3:34 p.m. this afternoon – Monday, July 25, 2022 – Barnstable Police and Massachusetts State Troopers scrambled toward the Stop & Shop Pharmacy at 425 Attucks Lane after two masked males reportedly went behind the counter and stole medication.
The suspects were described as “two black males, both wearing masks and black hoodies.” They both apparently fled the scene on foot to the rear of the store into the neighboring shopping plaza.
Barnstable patrol units, assisted by state troopers, set up a perimeter as a BPD K9 Unit began searching the area for a possible track or evidence. As you will hear in the audio, the K9 unit located clothing possibly shed by the fleeing suspects.
The theft happened in broad daylight in the middle of a busy supermarket. The nearby Barnstable Police Department, located just over a block from the scene, was in the middle of the patrol division shift change. In other words, double the number of patrol officers were in the immediate area. Within about one minute, the area was swarming with cops.
The suspects were not captured.
The Barnstable Police patrol and detective divisions are investigating. The investigation is very active and ongoing. HN will provide official details and updates as they become available.
The following HN audio/visual presentation highlights the police radio transmissions of responding police officers.
