And according to police reports filed in Barnstable District Court, there’s allegedly a little bit more to the story…
In her report, Barnstable Police Patrolwoman Natalie Fachada describes first encountering the alleged victim standing with a couple of other cops in the road, on Pitchers way, about a block away from the reported scene of the crime, back at 288 Scudder Ave. Officer Fachada reported the alleged female victim appearing visibly upset, repeatedly stating, very emphatically, that she couldn’t believe “he just pulled a gun on her.” The woman was reported to be “shaking and her voice sounded as though she may cry.”
As the story goes, the alleged victim reportedly told cops she had been staying at a friend’s house, when another female – a woman reportedly “well-known to [the] Barnstable Police Department through various interactions” – stopped by for an early morning social visit, just minutes earlier, which was sometime after two in the morning. The alleged victim then reportedly expressed a hankering to purchase marijuana… and then, lo and behold, the other woman – the early morning visitor – told everyone she just so happened to know of someone they could get it from. It sounded like a plan, as they piled into a car and drove over to the aforementioned Scudder Ave address.
Officer Fachada’s report continues:
“[The alleged victim] stated that she had never been to [the Scudder Ave] residence before, and only knew that the person they were buying a ’20 dollar bag of weed from’ is named Marc, later identified as Marc Grendon. [The alleged victim] stated that she and [the other woman] got out of the car and went inside the residence. [The alleged victim] stated she followed [the other woman] inside, and they walked up a staircase, and then opened a door to another staircase that [led] to an attic space. That is where [the alleged victim] stated that a female [occupant] started yelling and ‘asking what the hell was going on!’”
According to Officer Fachada’s report, the alleged victim then heard more yelling and a man say something along the lines of “don’t wake up my kids.” It was then that the woman who drove the alleged victim to the residence reportedly also started yelling.
Then suddenly, the alleged victim’s ride, the woman who drove her there, reportedly ran down the staircase, hopped in her car and took off without her.
And it was then, as the alleged victim – now abandoned – was reportedly fleeing from the yard, that the suspect (Grendon) is said to have chased her, hitting her with a knotted rope on the forearm. The suspect then allegedly pulled out a 9mm black pistol, held it up to the alleged victim stating “if you ever come back, I’ll put this in your mouth!”
Officer Fachada asked the alleged victim to show her forearm where she had been allegedly hit with a rope. There was reportedly no visible injury and the alleged victim refused medical attention.
The entire situation was a mess according to several pages of police reports. The Barnstable County Sheriff’s Crime Scene Unit responded to take photos of the scene. The Department of Children and Families eventually arrived on scene to conduct interviews of a woman and a couple of children. Two BB guns were seized as evidence. And Marc Grendon, age 49, of Hyannis was charged with Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (a handgun) and Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon (the knotted rope).
Also, as initially reported, a second man was taken into custody at the address for outstanding arrest warrants. CLICK HERE to see HN’s initial report from last week, entitled, “Two in custody after woman allegedly had gun pulled on her…”
