HYANNIS – [HN NOTES] – It had been a quiet night of digging around when HN spotted two red eyes glowing ahead in the headlights. There had just been a rather loud coyote predation somewhere nearby. The high-pitched screams of a small animal being murdered had the Hyannis News Mutt all fired up. (Bouncing back and forth in the backseat meant she likely wanted a piece of the action…) Arya’s unwritten rule, “bite first, ask questions later.” She was pumped, wagging her tale. The panicky squeaks of a nearby coyote kill were music to her darling little ears.

The eyes ahead turned out to be those of someone’s indoor pet, a black shepherd-looking dog, who turned out to be a Husky/Akita mix that just moved here from Falmouth, HN would later learn… He appeared lost, crossing back and forth between driveways, sniffing around for something or someone.

‘I hope those coyotes don’t f**k with him,’ was my first thought as I spun the car around.
