*** WATCH *** Cops scramble to help woman actively being assaulted at car wash…
HYANNIS – The call came in as a group of juveniles assaulting a 60-year-old female at a local car wash. The assault was reported to be ongoing as multiple Barnstable Police squad cars rushed toward the scene, not knowing what they were going to find. Was it a carjacking in progress? Was it road rage? Officers had to prepare themselves to be ready for anything, including a litany of the gravest extremes…
It turned out to be a severely autistic juvenile assaulting his mother inside their car, in a line of cars, just prior to entering the car wash. Parents of disabled children have an extremely difficult job. It’s long hours and sudden emergencies, including the possibility of being assaulted in some situations.
As you will hear in the following HN Video, officers quickly realized they were dealing with a disabled child, yet still had to immediately go hands on. They had to get the child to let go of his mother’s hair. He wouldn’t let go and he was hurting her. She would later be treated for ripped out hair and bite injuries…
As you will see and hear, officers did an excellent job gaining control of the situation while still remembering they were dealing with a severally autistic child. (The entire ordeal went on a longer than the following video illustrates.)
