UPDATE – BARNSTABLE PD MEDIA STATEMENT – 2/9/2022:
On Tuesday February 8, 2022 at approximately 6:50pm the Barnstable Police Department received a report of several gunshot being fired into a house on the 500 block of Pitchers Way Hyannis. Barnstable Patrol Officers working with Barnstable Detectives, Yarmouth Patrol Officers, and the Cape Cod Regional SWAT Team were able to locate the suspect on Murray Road in Yarmouth, execute two search warrants, and take 36 year old Christopher Bloniarz of Yarmouth into custody.
Responding officers learned that several rounds were fired at the home from outside, the rounds entered the home nearly striking several of the occupants; which included young children under the age of 10. There were no reported injuries at the time of the investigation. The on scene investigation lead to Bloniarz as a suspect. Bloniarz was located a short time later in his Yarmouth residence where SWAT executed an arrest warrant without incident.
Bloniarz was transported to the Barnstable Police Department where he was booked on 8 counts of Assault by Means of a Dangerous Weapon, 1 count of Discharging a Firearm within 500 Feet of a Dwelling, 1 count of Possession of a Firearm without a License To Carry, and 1 count of Possession of Ammunition. Bloniarz was held on $10,000 cash bail and is scheduled to be arraigned at the Barnstable District Court Wednesday February 9, 2022.

INITIAL HN REPORT:
WEST YARMOUTH/HYANNIS – [DEVELOPING] – Around 7:00 p.m. last evening – Tuesday, February 8, 2022 – a house was reportedly fired upon in the 500 block of Pitcher’s Way in Hyannis.
Sometime before 10:00 p.m., Barnstable and Yarmouth police patrol officers began to surround a small cottage on Murray Road in West Yarmouth after reportedly locating a suspect vehicle, according to radio transmissions. A suspect possibly related to the earlier shooting was believed to be inside that residence.
Patrol officers held the perimeter as members of the Cape Cod SWAT Team began arriving at a nearby staging area near the Hyannis/West Yarmouth town line.
SWAT members suited up. Some were deployed to set up along the perimeter until a bulletproof bulldozer and an armored SWAT BearCat could arrive on scene.
As you will see in the following HN Video, shortly before midnight, a SWAT vehicle and personnel moved in on the small cottage. The bulletproof bulldozer deployed a Rook barricade. The bulldozer also responded with a battering ram attachment.
The suspect reportedly surrendered without incident, was arrested and transported back to Barnstable Police Headquarters for booking. [DEVELOPING]
