WILD RESIDENTIAL ROLLOVER: Entrapped driver “punched out” windshield, then began walking away, witnesses say… [HN PHOTOS]

HYANNIS – It was a wild early morning crash scene in a thickly settled neighborhood this morning, right around the same time young children were out walking to their bus stops…
The rollover happened on Arrowhead Drive around 7:00 a.m. this morning.
Barnstable Police officers encountered the bloodied driver about a block from the wreckage. He was badly banged up and Hyannis EMTs immediately began first aid before eventually transporting him to Cape Cod Hospital.
HN spoke with a couple of witnesses who were awakened by the loud crash. They thought a storm damaged tree must have fallen from the weight of the snow. Looking out the window they saw a BMW on its roof. The heavily damaged sedan had just taken down several trees before crashing into a neighbor’s parked car. The driver then reportedly punched out what was left of the shattered windshield, extricated himself and began walking away. Police were advised and they were able to catch up to him shortly thereafter…
Sources on scene identified the driver as a 39-year-old Hyannis male…
No pedestrians, children or pets were injured…
The Barnstable Police Department is investigating what caused the BMW to leave the residential area roadway before crashing so violently… [DEVELOPING]
