Isabel the Golden Retriever Keeps Her Cool in Hyannis Crash Chaos [HN Photos]

HYANNIS, MASSACHUSETTS — A two-car collision delayed drive-home traffic on West Main Street Tuesday evening after a smash-up near 475 West Main Street triggered airbag deployment and spilled a large amount of fluids across the roadway.
Barnstable police and Hyannis firefighters rushed to the scene. Fire crews stretched a precautionary hose line because they didn’t like the way one vehicle was smoking. An ambulance crew evaluated two people. Both declined further medical care.
West Main Street was fully shut down in the area of Straightway, right outside Steve & Sue’s Par-Tee Freeze, which stayed open providing tasty refreshments throughout the backup.
The undisputed star of the scene was Isabel, a young, remarkably patient Golden Retriever riding in one of the cars. Completely uninjured, she stayed calm through the lights, sirens, and commotion — then happily accepted snout scratches from Hyannis News during a quick curbside interview.
The Barnstable PD is investigating the cause of the crash…
