KRISTY’S KORNER: CAPE SEAFOOD, West Yarmouth
Cape Seafood in West Yarmouth, (the former Golden Boy) is becoming one of the Cape’s best seafood finds around!! The Giannetos family, who has been in the food business for over 26 years, left Chatham’s Kream n’ Kone over a year ago and moved “west” to open Cape Seafood. We stopped by to see what people are talking about and were pleasantly surprised to find huge portions and reasonable priced selections from salads, chowder, grilled/broiled seafood and chicken but more importantly, fried seafood! If you can get over the bit outdated interior, Cape Seafood is spotless and offers quick, friendly service. Once we ordered, our food was freshly prepared and came out quick. The Fried Fisherman Plate was all we hoped for with heaping servings of scallops, whole clams, shrimp and fish! It comes with both french fries and their famous onion rings which were sweet and lightly battered!! We also ordered the fish and chips and the grilled chicken platter. Everything was delicious but we honestly, couldn’t stop talking about the onion rings! They serve wine, draft Bud Light and Cape Cod Beer. I like that the menu had variety, but wasn’t overwhelming.
Cape Seafood is a great option if you are coming off the beach or needing a place to stop by for a quick bite. It’s casual atmosphere is perfect if you are not interested in fighting off the crowds of people in Hyannis looking for the same food but wanting table service. There is also free WiFi for those who are looking for internet access. Cape Seafood is easy to find, on Route 28, just over the border in West Yarmouth next to the mini-golf place, Wild Animal Lagoon. This place would be a gold mine if the location was on the waterfront since I truly believe they have much better food. So, the next time you are hungry for a great place to have seafood, stop in and see what we mean…you won’t be disappointed!!! Check our their website at www.capeseafoodrestaurant.com
