VIDEO: Toddler left unattended in running motor vehicle… police track down operator…
HYANNIS – At about 1:00pm, a woman pulled into a parking space in front of Staples and noticed a toddler all alone in the vehicle parked next to her.
The Honda Accord was left running and the windows were cracked. The child was reportedly two to three years old.
The air conditioner was turned on…
The woman, concerned for the child’s well being, called Barnstable Police and several patrolmen responded to the scene…
The operator of the Honda was eventually located and apparently was inside of Staples for an unknown amount of time…
The operator was reportedly the child’s uncle…
Leaving a child in running motor vehicle in a busy parking area is very risky and dangerous to say the least; police were very concerned about the incident…
According to sources, the child was taken back to mother and the incident remains under investigation by police and very likely DCF.
It is still uncertain why the man left the child unattended.
The child was not in distress and was interacting with police officers.
