KRISTY’S KORNER: The Cape Point Hotel, West Yarmouth, one of Cape Cod’s “Hidden Gems”
I have gone past The Cape Point Hotel in West Yarmouth hundreds of times, but this morning I had the pleasure of having some extra time to stop in and see firsthand, what I have been hearing is one of the “hidden gems” of Cape Cod. Cape Point is located on Route 28 in West Yarmouth, and unlike many hotels in the area, Cape Point is open year round. The grounds are beautiful, the inside is super clean and not only do they have an inside salt generated pool, they have a beautiful outside pool as well. Another little secret…both pools have bars!! Hello??!!! Why have I never discovered these or even heard about them??? The Loft Lounge overlooks the oversized inside pool with widescreen TV and the Cabana Bar & Grille, located at the outdoor pool, awaits the opportunity to quench your thirst and satisfy your snacking appetite during the summer months.
Since I was hungry and been told that Cape Point has one of the most amazing breakfast’s around, I sat down in the Cafe and was greeted right away by my server Connie. She had a bright smile and was extremely happy to answer any questions I had before I ordered. She suggested the banana walnut pancakes, which is her favorite and she brought me a small order of french toast too that she thought I would enjoy. The portion sizes were huge and the other breakfast dishes that came out of the kitchen looked just as delicious and generous. I got a chance to meet the Chef, Janet Kissel, who has been working at Cape Point for over 20 years, she takes great pride in the quality of the food that comes out of the kitchen and you can taste her dedication to a fresh, homemade breakfast. The entire experience was delightful. The Cafe is cute, quiet and simply decorated in a Cape Cod theme. The tables were set with linens, white china and seasonal cut flowers. Not once did I have to beckon Connie to refill my coffee cup or wait for her to check if things were satisfactory.
After breakfast I made sure I took the time to check out the large, inside coy fish pond. It was a fun thing to see and it made the entry of their hotel stand out from other places I have been in. I recommend stopping in for breakfast some morning, you won’t be disappointed! Make sure you say “hi!” to Chef Janet and tell her how amazing YOUR breakfast experience was!!!
